It’s not too late to plant annuals for Fall bloom for the bees!

A special selection for nectar and pollen. We grow these at the Sanctuary, so we know the bees love them. Each packet contains approximately 500 seeds! This packet includes:

  • Bachelor Button (Centaurea cyanus)
  • Borage (Borago officinalis)
  • California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica)
  • Cosmos (Cosmos Bipinnatus Mix)
  • Zinnia (Zinnia Elegans Liliput Mix)

Planting instructions: Sow densely in pots or flats in a rich potting soil. Cover lightly and keep moist. Transplant outside after danger of frost has passed. These seeds do not require any special treatment. See germination times and plant descriptions below.

Bachelor Button (Zones 3-10)

Attracts butterflies, honeybees, and other beneficial insects. Bachelor’s Buttons are easy to grow and bloom heavily throughout the summer. While they will reseed, they will not do so reliably, and should be planted every year.

Borage (Zones 3-10)

California Poppy (Zones 3-10)

Poppies have attractive, lacy blue-green foliage and yellow/orange flowers that open with the sun and close at night, or during inclement weather. In colder climates poppies are annual, but reseed readily. They should be sown directly where they are to bloom as they have a deep tap root that does not tolerate disturbance well. They prefer full sun and good drainage.
