Description

One hundred years ago, on Feb 3, 1923, some workers engaged in building the Goetheanum (the home of the Anthroposophical Society in Dornach, Switzerland) asked Rudolf Steiner about the difference between bees and wasps.

Steiner’s answer to this seemingly simple question led to a magnificent series of lectures on Bees and the related realms of nature (including wasps, of course!) concluding in December of 1923.

To celebrate the 100-year anniversary of this lecture series, the living-learning community at Spikenard Farm Honeybee Sanctuary invites you to an in-depth study of the Bee Lectures, including presentations from experienced biodynamic beekeepers, discussions, and spiritual communion with the Bee.

In 1923, modern beekeeping was about 50 years old, dating from the invention of artificial queen rearing. Steiner predicted the collapse of honeybees, which has since proven true, and yet very little of the deeper understanding that he shared with us a century ago is being applied in mainstream beekeeping.

Where do we find ourselves now, 100 years later? What are the most important lessons from these lectures? How have they been applied in service of the bees? How can we strengthen our capacity to communicate and share this practical and spiritual approach to bees and our Earth in the coming century? How can we allow Spirit to breathe into our life and work with bees?
